Course Description:

This course is for all employees that use a hand soldering iron in their daily work. You will be shown the best way to install surface mount components manually – using a standard hand soldering iron. During the course you will be shown the proper method to install SMT components inline and other proper methods to install the SMT components. 
The following chip component installations will be covered:  rectangular chips, tantalums and MELFs, Gull Wing Components, SOTs, D-PAKs, SOICs and QFPs. Other types of components covered; J-Lead Components, SOJs and PLCCs. Tin lead and lead free applications are also demonstrated. They are; solder prefill, solder bump, point-to-point and wave / drag soldering. Soldering tip types are demonstrated as well. They are; conical, chisel, angled wave and blade style tips.

•    Demonstrate understanding how to hand solder SMT components
•    Able to use proper blade tips for hand soldering SMT components
•    Become more successful with hand soldering SMT components
•    Improved functional usage of hand soldering iron

Testing & Certificate:

A Certificate of Completion will be issued to the student upon Completion of the testing requirement of the course. A passing grade of 70% is needed to receive the certificate. The student will be allowed to take the test three times. If a passing grade is not achieved after the third test the course will be closed and the student will have to repurchase the course.
